Position Statement
My experience as an industry practitioner and a professor would give me a balanced range of experience that is representative of the diverse mixture of INFORMS members. I will work to ensure the efficient functioning of the executive board. I will also work to build on existing efforts and create new initiatives in four specific areas. First, I believe the subdivisions are an important foundation upon which INFORMS membership is built. I will support the efforts of the existing subdivisions, and the creation of new subdivisions that address member needs and encourage new membership. Second, I will develop new ways to help match INFORMS volunteers with internal (within INFORMS) and external (charitable organizations) opportunities. Third, I will develop new initiatives to reward INFORMS members for their service commitments through expanded member recognition opportunities. Finally, I will help develop INFORMS outreach and educational efforts that leverage socially relevant O.R. applications to attract new undergraduate student members, and encourage high school students to consider science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
I am honored to be nominated for Secretary of INFORMS. If elected, I look forward to serving.
