The availability of large parallel computers and improved network technologies
has increased the need of efficient scheduling and resource management
policies. The technological developments in the communication networks, like
broad-band or ATM networks have made these areas very interesting and
important in recent years. They have also created new research directions
and projects. The objectives of this workshop are of both theoretical and
practical significance. The workshop aims to contribute to the theory of
approximation and on-line algorithms for scheduling and telecommunication
problems. It also aims to exploit this theory to real world applications and
to lead to practical algorithmic tools, thus fostering the cooperation among theoretical and practical researchers of the field. |
