The First POMS-HK International Conference

The worsening global economy due to the financial tsunami and the incessant rise in customer demand for higher quality goods and services have been dual challenges to enterprises all over the world. Confronted by these crises, companies must rethink their production and operations strategy. The First POMS-HK International Conference, co-hosted by the POMS Hong Kong Chapter and the Logistics Research Centre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, provides a forum on production and operations management issues in face of the changing economy. Practitioners and academics are invited to share their knowledge, experience, and insights on the design, analysis, planning, implementation, and management of production and service systems and their impacts.

The POMS Hong Kong Chapter was set up in March 2009, with an objective to encourage the exchange of ideas, experiences, and knowledge among scholars and professionals in Hong Kong in the field of Production and Operations Management, and to foster the integration between Hong Kong and the international POM community. We hope the POMS-HK International Conference will become a traditional focal event on the dissemination of current and emerging trends in Production and Operations Management relevant to Hong Kong, Greater China, the Asia-Pacific region, and the world.
