Operations Research - Call for Papers

Special Issue on "Information and Decisions in Social and Economic Networks"
Social networks not only have a defining impact on consumer choice but are also central in social and political decisions. Economic and financial transactions also increasingly occur over large, complex, dynamically changing networks, not only contributing to the efficient allocation of resources, but also occasionally creating large, systemic, and poorly understood risks. Similarly, network effects are now seen as major elements in healthcare, smart power grids, urban transportation, and more. This special issue will explore such social and economic networks, construed broadly to include any system in which human action and control play a major role. Service Science - Call for Papers   

Special Issue on "Service Mining:  Market, Technology, and Application"
This special issue is devoted to the exploration of the four dimensions of service-dominant (SD) logic-based service mining (technology, model, management, and application) across different disciplines with regard to the issue of mining "services" under service science. With the significant growth of revenue in the service industry around the world, SD logic-based service mining is worth investigating to help enterprises to gain and create values with customers now and going forward. Submission deadline is January 31, 2013; for more information, access the Call for Papers.

Earlier this month, at the 59th Annual North American Meetings of the Regional Science Association International, she received the 2012 Walter Isard Award, the top research award given by NARSC (North American Regional Science Council).

This past year I was a very proud "Academic Mom" since not only did one of my doctoral students at the Isenberg School of Management receive her PhD and assume an assistant professor position (Dr. Min Yu is now at the Pamplin School of Business at the University of Portland in Oregon) but three former doctoral students received promotion and tenure -- Dr. Jose M. Cruz is now an associate professor at the School of Business at the University of Connecticut in Storrs and also an Ackerman Scholar, Dr. Fuminori Toyasaki is an associate professor in the School of Administrative Studies at York University in Toronto, Canada, and Dr. Ke "Grace" Ke is an associate professor at the College of Business at Central Washington University in Ellensburg.
