Operations research is a very analytics-intensive profession. Has that always been known in the industry?
Not really. People looking for analytics resources don't necessarily associate that with operations research. We, the society, decided to take a more aggressive stance in saying that we do, in fact, do what people are looking for. Read more.

The INFORMS Subdivisions Council is pleased to welcome the newest student chapter, at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. Lamar is one of the fastest growing universities in Texas and is a member of the Texas State University System. The student chapter was approved by the Council in June. It will be led by President Majed Al-Bokhari (majedalbokhari@gmail.com) and his team of officers, all graduate students in industrial engineering. Professor Alberto Marquez (alberto_marquez@hotmail.com) will act as faculty advisor to the chapter. The group is planning events for the fall semester and welcomes new members!
