Early- to mid-career practice members will want to consider becoming a Certified Analytics Professional. INFORMS saw the market need and is preparing the first general exam-based analytics certification. The certification exam will be offered at the 2013 INFORMS Conference on Business Analytics and Operations Research, April 7-9, San Antonio, Texas. Presentation slides from Booz Allen Hamilton and IBM are now available at the Analytics Section Website. You do have to be a member of the section to access them. Booz Allen Hamilton was the first winner of Innovation in Analytics Award for "Enhancing Immigration Enforcement with Decision Analytics." This project helped U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) efficiently align their resources to double the number of serious criminal offender removals from the United States to enhance public safety. IBM was a finalist for the award. Streaming video of BAH's presentation is coming soon.

The online student membership magazine is looking for students to fill the positions of Co-Editor, Co-Editor/Webmaster, and Editorial Board Member. Each of these positions provide opportunities to serve our professional society and to network with professionals.

The George Nicholson Committee competition is held each year to identify and honor outstanding papers in the field of operations research and the management sciences written by a student. Prizes will be awarded and finalists will be invited to present their papers at the 2012 INFORMS Annual Meeting. All entries must be submitted no later than May 31, 2012.
