It's not always easy to introduce a new award, and those running the competition can be prone to nail-biting as they hope that they receive at least one submission. That's why the news for the new Innovation in Analytics Award is so gratifying. Analytics Chair Mike Gorman and INFORMS Marketing Director Gary Bennett set a "stretch goal" of 20 submissions in this, the award's first year. Now that deadline day of January 31 has passed, they are happy to report that a rip-roaring 50 submissions arrived in their in-boxes.

Well done! And good luck to all those who submitted. The good news will arrive for one of the contestants during the INFORMS Analytics Conference this April.
