Graham Rand, Senior Lecturer at Lancaster University in Great Britain, has been named 2012 Edelman Gala MC by the Gala Organizing Committee. The Edelman Gala takes place April 16, 2012 at INFORMS Conference on Business Analytics and Operations Research in Huntington Beach, California. Graham has been a great friend to INFORMS over the years, serving on many committees including judging and coaching finalists for the Edelman Gala. He recently joined the editorial board of Interfaces as book reviews editor. Graham was elected President-Elect of Omega Rho, the international honor society for O.R., in 2010. He will serve a two-year term as president beginning in 2012. Graham has been honored with the Companionship of Operational Research, one of the highest awards bestowed by the Operational Research Society. He has had a long and distinguished career serving as editor in chief of scholarly journals, organizing major O.R. conferences, and supporting the development of O.R. in developing countries. His quick wit and easy charm are sure to benefit INFORMS and the Gala.
