INFORMS wants to help you connect. We have added the following fields to your member profile page in the INFORMS Self Service Center: Web address, Facebook page, Twitter handle, LinkedIn page, and professional blog URL. After log in, go to Profile Update in the INFORMS Self Service Center to add your cyber contact information. This information will then be displayed in the Member Directory for all members to see.

In 2012, INFORMS will begin publishing the online-only journal Service Science. It will be available as one of your dues journal choices. Service Science is a fully refereed, online journal focusing on state-of-the-art research and development in service science education and practice. Service Science is currently a publication of the INFORMS Service Science Section.

When you renew your membership for 2012 (online renewal begins in October) regular members may now choose TWO online only dues journals. Take advantage of this new benefit that will increase the amount of scholarly knowledge at your fingertips.

O.R. and analytics are making the news more than at any time in recent memory. INFORMS Communications Director Barry List will lead a panel discussion with four INFORMS newsmakers at the Annual Meeting: Margaret Brandeau of Stanford University, Sheldon Jacobson of the University of Illinois, Jack Levis of UPS, and Anna Nagurney of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Hear them explain how their work and their research touched the lives of others.

New Workshop: Setting Up a "No Wait" Emergency Dept. (ED) Using Basic OR/MS Principles

Saturday, November 12, 9am-5pm

The goal of the workshop is to enable ED Medical Directors or ED Nursing Supervisors to move to improve the flow of patients into and through his/her ED following the basic OR-MS principles taught in the workshop. The OR analyst will be able to communicate these principles clearly and effectively to other ED Medical Directors or ED Nursing Supervisors, in their terms, and enable them to implement the No-Wait ED concept. For OR analysts, therefore, this course will be a "train the trainers" preparation for effective consulting, providing solutions in this subject.
