In Memoriam, Alberto Caprara

The INFORMS board, staff, and membership join in extending condolences to the family of Alberto Caprara, an editor for the INFORMS Journal on Computing and the 1997 winner of the George B. Dantzig Dissertation Award. Prof. Caprara died in a mountaineering accident in Italy earlier this month; he was 44 years old. His colleague at the University of Bologna and fellow JOC Editor Michela Milano remembered him with these words: "We are all really sad and astonished. Not only was Alberto a colleague and a friend, but he was one of the smartest minds in the field of O.R."
