“Applying OR in Brazil to solve real world challenges with OPTMODEL from SAS”
Mary Grace Crissey
Analytics Marketing Manager at SAS
Abstract
This will be a non technical talk with Mary sharing some OR stories collected during her tenure in the marketing group at SAS. Included will be slides created by a SAS consultant who presented at the summer international INFORMS meeting - highlighting ways he won attention of Brazil business leaders with his Operations Research applications . Supply Chain was the obvious first choice – and Edgar went on to demonstrate improvements for clients in Cosmetics, Home appliances, Geographic info systems as well as Agribusiness & transportation. Software sales teams often emphasize ROI, but as those of us in the practitioner field know – benefits include much more than dollars saved. Combining Analytics with BI and selling to corporate IT departments can result in unexpected insights and as well as lessons learned. As a CPMS council officer, Mary welcomes inputs and discussion items from chapter members.
Mary Grace Crissey is the Analytics Marketing Manager at SAS where she promotes data and text mining along with optimization as she has done for 6 years now. It was 2002 when she “retired” from active duty with the US Air Force. Her military career included simulation studies on a CRAY supercomputer lab in New Mexico, decision policy guidance at the Pentagon, project management at R&D labs, teaching ROTC and leading an Operations Research group at the Air Force Personnel Center in San Antonio.
