A quick update on MAS activities for our Charlotte INFORMS Conference starting this coming weekend:

• More than 75 analysts are scheduled to present across 24 sessions, included 9 joint presentations with CPMS, Decision Analysis Society, and Homeland Security; we also will sponsor two tutorial presentations.
• During our annual business meeting Monday evening we will present several awards, including the Seth Bonder OR Scholarship and 2011 Bernard O. Koopman Prize.
• We will also recognize and thank departing MAS council members who complete their respective terms of office this year: Niki Goerger, Lee Stenson, Bill Klimack, and our stalwart Secretary Treasurer Alan Johnson. Please join me in thanking them all for their special contributions to this unique professional society.
• And, as replacements, we’ll welcome and induct three new MAS council representatives: Cal Poly Pomona Engineering School Dean Mayhar Amouzegar; US Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander Chad Long; and West Point Math Professor and former department chair, retired Brigadier General Chris Arney.
• Our current MAS “webmeister”, NPS professor and Navy Commander Walt DeGrange, will step up to fill our Secretary Treasurer council position, and Chad Long will backfill Walt as our new MAS Webmaster.

The world lost a great Operations Research analyst and contributor to both INFORMS, MAS and MORS. A brief bio is included below.
