Title: Management Scientist

 

Applications are currently being invited for the position of Management Scientist in the Network Revenue Department. The primary role of Network Revenue, a key area within Aer Lingus’ Commercial department, is to maximise revenue on each flight within the Aer Lingus network through a combination of pricing and inventory actions, whilst constantly reacting to competitor activity and market trends.

 

The purpose of the Management Scientist position is to optimise the use of management science techniques to deliver the best revenue result. The management scientist is expected to play a practical role in the delivery of improvements in total net revenue per seat. In addition, the management scientist will play a key role in managing the testing, implementation, integration and training of a new Passenger Management System, a significant exciting IT development which will see the replacement of outdated technology with new systems for Reservations, Inventory and Revenue Management. The management scientist will be integral in the delivery and measurement of the benefits identified in the business case for replacing these systems.

 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a real commercial contribution at Aer Lingus.

 

To be considered for the position of Management Scientist, candidates must meet the following criteria:

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Honours degree in Management Science / Mathematics / MIS / Engineering or a similar discipline with advanced mathematical content.
  • Excellent computer science skills including programming, database and systems analysis.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Able to pass a 10-year security background check*.
  • Possession and demonstration of the key competencies outlined below.

*If you are a non Irish Citizen, you will need to be in possession of a current police disclosure certificate from your country. If you have lived outside the Republic of Ireland for more than 6 months you will also be required to hold a current police disclosure certificate from that country/countries.

 

Key Competencies / Experience:

  • Experience with spreadsheet, word processing and presentation packages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to include proven report writing & presentation skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Excellent analysis capabilities, and the ability to extract and manipulate data to produce relevant information on all industry KPIs.
  • Experience of management science ideas and techniques.
  • A detailed knowledge of the principles of Revenue Management.
  • A flexible outlook and the capability to work successfully alone and as part of a team.
  • Focused attitude to work, with the ability to constantly meet deadlines while ensuring attention to detail & high levels of accuracy.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a genuine interest in the airline industry.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of project management and Revenue Management systems
  • Experience in a similar position within the aviation industry
