At the 2009 INFORMS meeting at San Diego, we introduced the proposal that INFORMS provide a new forum to collaborate in support of decision sciences advances. We are hoping to encourage interest among researchers, operators and students in research addressing support to military decision makers in planning and executing missions. Development of theoretical foundations, models, and algorithms are needed to support timely, robust, near-optimal decision making in highly complex, dynamic systems, operating in uncertain, resource-constrained environments with incomplete information against a competent thinking adversary. Research involves integrating across multiple disciplines: operations research, mathematics, statistics, and management, social, psychological and economic sciences.

I look for the opportunity to engage my fellow researchers in this endeavor and look forward to your comments and suggestions.

Very Best Regards,
