Dr. Staats describes the fundementals for successful organizational change in practical terms. The presentation includes both theory and practical suggestions from experience. Dr. Staats was recently commended by the Assistant Secretary of Defense for his efforts in the area of organizational change. (Intermediate)

Resurrection from Eden: Operations Research in a Combat Zone Dr. Staats describes his practical experiences and lessons learned as an operations research analyst in a combat zone. Dr. Staats is also Colonel Staats and was both a military commander and principal advisor/analyst to the three star U.S. and Iraqi commanders. His anecdotes range from humorous to shocking, but all are thought provoking and timely. COL Staats describes the "three principles of analytic organizations." Dr. Rich Staats comes from a rich and varied technical and experiential background. He graduated from USMA (BS) and MIT (Ph.D.). COL Staats has served in the military for over 25 years with assignments world-wide to include four overseas assignments, three overseas commands, and a recent combat tour in Iraq (2005-2006) as a battalion commander/Corps principal for Iraqi support. He has written numerous articles and pieces ranging from artificial intelligence to military logistics. Dr. Staats is also a noted speaker on the areas of network-centric warfare, information theory, and game design including modeling and simulation of societies and cultures. He spent the last thirteen years as the single father of three grown children who kept him focused.
