INFORMS News: Nicholson Student Paper Competition
Bo Zhang of the Georgia Institute of Technology won the 2010 George E. Nicholson Student Paper Competition that is held each year to honor outstanding papers, written by a student, in the field of operations research and the management sciences. Committee Chair Sigrun Andradottir announced the results following a series of paper presentations at the INFORMS Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas.
Zhang’s prize-winning paper was entitled, “Refined Square-root Staffing for Call Centers with Impatient Customers.”
Anicham Kumarasamy finished second and Henry Lam received honorable mention. Other finalists included Timothy Carnes, David A. Goldberg, Alexander Zadorojniy and Lauren A. Hannah. yORMS
