INFORMS News: Undergraduate Operations Research Prize

John Silberholz of the University of Maryland won the inaugural INFORMS Undergraduate Operations Research Prize for his work entitled, “The Effective Application of a New Approach to the Generalized Orienteering Problem.” Committee Chair Susan Martonosi presented the award at the INFORMS Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas.
Finalists included Christine Barnett and Kenneth Chu (Cornell University), James Davis (Rutgers University), Yaniv Ovadia (Harvey Mudd College) and James Wade (Georgia Institute of Technology).
The Undergraduate Operations Research Prize Competition will be held each year to honor a student or group of students who conducted a significant applied project in operations research or management science, and/or original and important theoretical or applied research in operations research or management science, while enrolled as an undergraduate student.
