LGO Integrated Development Environment for Continuous Global Optimization

                 --- Demonstration Program System ---

                 (c) Pinter Consulting Services, 1999

The enclosed (zip) file illustrates the complete runtime functionality of
the LGO IDE, by solving randomly generated continuous global optimization
test problems (called TEST5).

The demo program will run under Windows 95/98/NT operating systems. Note
that another demo with a different user interface is available: the latter
will run also under DOS and Windows 3.1, and can be migrated to Unix and
VMS platforms. However, that version lacks some of the IDE functionality
of the system demonstrated here which is fully Windows-compatible. Command-
line style demonstration programs can also be made available upon request.

In order to run the enclosed demonstration program, please follow the
instructions below.

1. Create a directory (e.g., C:\LGODEMO) to run the demo.
2. Using PKUNZIP.EXE, unzip LGO_IDE.ZIP into this directory.
3. Launch LGO_IDE.EXE.
4. Read the two text help files (invoked under the Help menu).
5. Follow the LGO_IDE main menu to test LGO system features.
6. During runtime, select options as prompted by the program.

The enclosed USERM5.FOR and USERF5.FOR files may serve as examples
(templates) to build user applications, when the complete LGO system is
available. The user files embedded in the demo are somewhat more complicated
than the enclosures: they also include the random problem generator, as
well as demo program information shown on the introductory screen, and in
the more detailed output file.

One can observe that the test problems in this demo program are typically
far from being trivial, even for a small problem dimensionality. The main
objective of the demo is to illustrate that the LGO solver system consistently
and efficiently generates a global optimum estimate.

The LGO_IDE Windows demo is targeted for 800x600 screen resolution, and 16
or 256 colors. In addition, please select (under Control Panel | MS DOS) the
console window - as opposed to full screen - option.

Demo program versions for other resolutions and color systems can also be
provided upon request.

Your comments will be most appreciated. Potential LGO users are encouraged
to submit (preferably Fortran coded) test problems to Pinter Consulting
Services. Sample (template) user files will be provided upon request.
