Call for Nominations
Editor in Chief, Mathematics of Operations Research
Deadline for Nominations: May 1, 2012
Following the sudden passing of Uriel G. Rothblum, editor in chief of Mathematics of Operations Research, and based on recommendations from the INFORMS Board of Directors, the President of INFORMS has appointed a committee to conduct a search for the next editor in chief of the journal. The committee intends to propose a candidate for approval by INFORMS no later than July 3, 2012.
All members of INFORMS and the Mathematics of Operations Research community are invited to participate in this process. The committee seeks your opinions and comments on (1) the current state of Mathematics of Operations Research, (2) recommendations for change, if any, and (3) candidates for editor in chief.
Qualifications for editor-in-chief of Mathematics of Operations Research will include
• a demonstrated interest in a broad range of topics in the field
• a demonstrated record of research in the field
• dedication and enthusiasm for Mathematics of Operations Research
• previous editorial experience
• vision of the role of scholarly publications in the electronic age
• commitment to workload involved
• ability to manage the editorial process effectively and efficiently
Members of the search committee are Gérard Cornuéjols, committee chair and liaison from the INFORMS Publications Committee (Carnegie Mellon University); Alexander Barvinok (University of Michigan); Stephen Robinson (University of Wisconsin–Madison); and Andrzej Ruszczyński (Rutgers University).
Those nominating others should submit a brief letter of recommendation. Those offering to serve themselves should submit a summary of qualifications and experience. Nominations and applications should be sent by May 1, 2012 via e-mail to:
