Seminar – IEM Distinguished Speaker Series

The chapter holds seminars on behalf of the School of Industrial Engineering and Management as part of the IEM Distinguished Speaker Series every semester. We invite famous scholars from universities and outstanding industrial practitioner from companies to give speeches and share their precious experience in research and business.

Field Trip

The chapter pays great effort to contact the nearby companies to organize field trips for the students every spring semester. The field trip team is led by the faculty advisor, and takes one day from the campus to the site and back. It is a wonderful opportunity for the students to glance over the facets of nowadays industrial and logistic sites, and learn firsthand experience from the experience.

Seminar - INFORMS Brown Bag Seminars

The chapter holds seminars for OSU student speakers with the title INFORM Brown Bag Seminars every semester. We invite outstanding graduate students to give speeches and share their progress and achievement in research, project or internship. The audiences learn from the speakers, and the speakers get valuable peer review. Before every year’s graduate season and the INFORMS Annual Meeting time, the Brown Bag Seminars provides a precious opportunity to practice and improve, and are most welcomed by the student speakers.

Career Affair

The chapter devote to help the student in job hunting and organize varies of career affair activity every semester. During the hiring season when the hiring representatives of potential employers are in campus, we invite them to give speeches introducing the company and answer questions from the potential employees. We also invite the specialists from student hiring office in OSU, to tutor the students near graduation but having little job hunting experience.

Workshop Series

The chapter holds workshop series every semester to introduce the popular academic software like Matlab, Latex, and Mathematica. The speakers are generally senior graduate students who have ample experience in using the software. The workshop is highly interactive, for we encourage the audiences bring their own laptops with the software installed, and so they can try and practice during the workshop session.
