Operations and Supply Chains
Dan Adelman and Chung Piaw Teo
The Operations and Supply Chains area considers articles at the forefront of advancing the science and engineering of operations, encompassing research on the design, planning, control, and improvement of manufacturing, service, supply, and distribution operations, as well as revenue management and pricing. We encourage papers that examine the interface of operations with other areas, including marketing, finance, accounting, economics, strategy, entrepreneurship/innovation, and behavioral science. Papers examining strategic operating decisions, developing new mathematical models and methods for critical or emerging operational issues, developing new methods for the empirical analysis of operational phenomena, and/or incorporating modern technological advances of business analytics in operations are especially welcome.
A paper’s contribution to the science of operations may focus on advancing theory and developing new methods, analytical frameworks, structural results, quantitative relationships, and models. A paper’s contribution to the engineering of operations may focus on advancing the state-of-the-art in providing innovative models, solutions, and insights to specific operational problems, and may include motivation from industrial practice, validation with real-world data, and computationally tractable algorithms. In all cases, however, the contribution must be significant, relevant, and conceptually sound.
