Referees
Operations Research publishes papers of interest to the broad operations research and management science community. These may be papers reporting observations of operating systems, contributions to the methods and modes of OR; papers reporting on the realism of OR models, case histories of applications, review articles, and discussion of aspects of such subjects as the administrative environment, the history, policy, practice, future, or areas of application of operations research. The content must be substantial, rather than trivial, and should detail methods, as well as report results. Worthy contributions of less substantial content and short notes appear as Technical Notes or Letters to the Editor.
Your role as a referee will be performed most effectively if you provide a well-rounded set of comments describing your judgments of the paper, listing key points the editors should be aware of, and recommending a course of action.
Remember, the primary goal of the review process is to help the authors and editors toward the best possible result. Thus, while your report will assist their publication decision, your comments should be as constructive as possible to aid the authors in improving the paper.
Thank you for your efforts to maintain the high quality of Operations Research.
