Steps

The following steps are applied to achieve the goals of the review process:

Authors

  1. Although there is no strict limit on the length of a submitted paper, we try to keep papers published in the journal to 30 pages in length (double-spaced with a minimum of 11 pt font size), but will consider longer papers (up to 40 pages in length, double-spaced). The page limit includes all text, tables, figures, and so on. Supporting appendix material may be placed online at the Operations Research website as an electronic companion to the published paper. However, for very long papers, we cannot guarantee that the target time limits (4 months for first review and 3 months for second review) will be achieved. Authors are thus encouraged to focus on concise and well-written articles.
  2. By submitting a paper to Operations Research, the author is requesting the research community to volunteer its time to carefully review and comment on the author’s work. Thus, the author also has an obligation to serve the community as a referee in order to make the reviewing process function. If the author has consistently refused to adequately and appropriately fulfill their refereeing duties for Operations Research, the Editor in Chief reserves the right to not consider any paper submitted by the author for publication.

Associate Editors

  1. Associate Editors will receive positive recognition for high-quality and timely work. We will send out the certificates and letters for the "Operations Research Meritorious Service Award" every year as well as putting an asterisk next to the names of the winners in the journal.
  2. The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to remove any Associate Editor from the Board for failing to fulfill their obligations. The Editor-in-Chief further reserves the right to not consider any paper submitted by that Associate Editor for publication in Operations Research.

Referees

  1. Referees will receive positive recognition for high-quality and timely work. We will be sending out the certificates and letters for the "Operations Research Meritorious Service Award" every year as well listing the names of the recipients in the journal.
  2. The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to discontinue soliciting reviews from any referee who has failed to fulfill their obligations. The Editor-in-Chief further reserves the right to not consider any paper submitted by that referee for publication in Operations Research.
