Best Paper Award -- Application Process

For the 2008 Best Paper Award, anyone can nominate any paper published in volumes seven through nine of M&SOM. All nominations should be emailed to the M&SOM Editor by March 14th, 2008. Nominations will be handled as confidential input to be used only for the purposes of this award. Each nomination should contain the following information:

• Name, affiliation and email address of the nominator(s).
• Bibliographic reference of the nominated paper.
• Statement of support for the nomination. There are no formatting or length restrictions on this statement. Brevity is appreciated, but nominators should express their complete argument for their nomination. In particular, the nominator(s) should discuss the significance of the paper's current and future contribution to the theory and practice of operations management.

From the set of nominated papers, the Best Paper will be selected by the Editor in consultation with the journal's panel of Associate Editors. The 2008 M&SOM Best Paper will be announced at the Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society's summer 2008 conference. A subsequent announcement will be published in the journal along with the paper's abstract and a statement from the Editor highlighting the paper's contribution. The authors of the Best Paper will share a $2000 cash award, provided by the Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society of INFORMS.
