YOU ARE HERE: COMMUNITIES
|
INFORMS communities - also known as subdivisions - are important, independent bodies that unite members into local regional groups, focus on special technical interests, and provide the backbone for the organization. Many members belong to more than one group. Communities sponsor conferences, regular meetings, sessions at annual meetings, educational programs, and awards; some provide professional journals and resource publications.
In 2007 INFORMS embarked on a new concept in uniting communities, with the inaugural INFORMS Midwest Regional Conference. Our hope is that this important event will be the first of many regional conferences, helping to facilitate communication among OR/MS practitioners and academics alike. The 2008 Southwest Regional Conference will be held at Texas A&M University, April 18-19, 2008.
INFORMS communities make it happen. Have a special interest? Your community needs you! Join a community and volunteer your energy, talents, and knowledge. You will network with great people and make a positive contribution to both the community and your résumé.
Organization
INFORMS communities are organized into the following units:
Societies INFORMS societies are the flagships of the INFORMS communities. The societies are significantly larger than the sections, chapters, or fora, and focus on a common theme. more »
Sections INFORMS sections are technical interest groups devoted to advancing the professional interests of members in specialized and technical aspects of our profession.
