OR/MS
in the Community
There's
no shortage of OR/MS success stories in industry, especially
in areas such as logistics, manufacturing and marketing. Less
well known are the important applications of OR/MS to community-based
programs in public health, disaster relief, health care and
other arenas. While the models and solution strategies for community-based
applications are fundamentally different from those of industry,
the potential impact of OR/MS is enormous.
The INFORMS
Annual Meeting 2003 will introduce you to this promising area
by highlighting some of the current problems and research,
as well as exploring directions for the future. Our focus
on "OR/MS in the Community" will form the cornerstone
of a meeting that covers the customary wide spectrum of OR/MS
technical topics.
