When the U.S. federal government takes note of a topic, you've arrived in a special way. Earlier this month the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) convened a conference on data science. INFORMS staff presented a poster outlining the CAP® program at the inaugural Data Science Symposium at the NIST program. During the two- day conference, presenters representing both public and private stakeholders explored the definition of data science and big data and ways in which to make the extremely large datasets more accessible to researchers while preserving data integrity and data provenance. Read the INFORMS CAP abstracted, presented by INFORMS Certification Manager Dr. Louise Wehrle, on page 30 of the proceedings here. Learn more about the conference here.

The CAP exam will become computer-based in the second quarter of 2014. We have signed with Kryterion to deliver the exam at hundreds of testing locations throughout North America and abroad. Watch this space for more details.
