INFORMS News: Arikan captures Dantzig Dissertation Award

Mazhar Arikan of Purdue University was presented the George B. Dantzig Dissertation Award from INFORMS for his dissertation, “The Impact of Airline Flight Schedules on Flight Delays: An Analysis of Block-Time, Delay Propagation, and Schedule Optimization using Stochastic Models.”

The award honors the best dissertation in any area of operations research and the management sciences that is innovative and relevant to practice. The award is designed to encourage academic research that combines theory and practice and stimulates greater interaction between doctoral students (and their advisors) and the world of practice.

Committee Chair Aliza Heching made the presentation at the INFORMS Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Ariz.
