Jason Acimovic of Penn State University was presented the George B. Dantzig Dissertation Award from INFORMS for his dissertation, “Lowering Outbound Shipping Costs in an Online Retail Environment by Making Better Fulfillment and Replenishment Decisions.”

The award honors the best dissertation in any area of operations research and the management sciences that is innovative and relevant to practice. The award is designed to encourage academic research that combines theory and practice and stimulates greater interaction between doctoral students (and their advisors) and the world of practice.

INFORMS Vice President-Membership and Professional Recognition Ozlem Ergun, on behalf of 2013 Committee Chair Zeynep Aksin Karaesmen, made the presentation at the INFORMS Annual Meeting in Minneapolis.
