Letter from the Lead Editor

Fall/Winter 2016 Issue

Dear readers,

It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you the Fall/Winter 2016 Issue of OR/MS Tomorrow. The current editorial team has done a fantastic job of putting together a series of articles that are bound to both educate and entertain our audience.

In this fifth thematic issue of OR/MS Tomorrow, we take a look at Simulation - one of the most widely used techniques in Operations Research and Management Science. In fact, it is so widely used that we are well past the stage of using it as a ‘last resort’. We provide a better glimpse into the topic via expert commentary from Dr. Barry Nelson, one of the foremost experts in the field of Simulation. Moreover, we present a brief history into how the arena of Simulation came into existence, along with providing an insight into the popular professional society involved in the field of Simulation.  We round out this issue by highlighting our student community in the student chapter spotlight, outlining some recent innovative applications, and soliciting submissions to highlight undergrad student research. We also put together a list of some future conferences that you might want to attend.

I hope you enjoy the content and look forward to hearing any thoughts that you may have with regards to OR/MS Tomorrow via email at orms_tomorrow@mail.informs.org.

Kind Regards,

Siddhartha Nambiar
