INFORMS Fellows: Selection Procedure

The Fellows Selection Committee, composed of twelve Fellows appointed for three-year staggered terms, is chartered by the INFORMS Board to evaluate nominees and make awards. The documentation submitted with a nomination is the basis for a selection decision.

Personal knowledge by members of the committee, in the absence of adequate documentation, is not sufficient to recommend a nominee for an award. Awardees will be notified by early fall of each year that their awards will be presented at the INFORMS Annual Meeting. The Fellows Selection Committee, at its discretion, may elect to retain for one additional year, and reconsider then, the nomination of an individual who was not selected.

All nomination forms, reference forms and letters, CV’s or resumes, and other material submitted in connection with a nomination will be handled personally by the Executive Director (or person designated by the Executive Director) at the INFORMS headquarters office. A member who starts to develop a nomination shall notify the Executive Director, giving the name of the intended nominee.

The Executive Director (or person designated by the Executive Director) shall coordinate multiple nominations of the same individual. Selected awardees shall be advised of their awards by the President of INFORMS and encouraged to attend the Fellow Award Ceremony and Luncheon, during the fall Annual Meeting, where they are formally accorded the Fellow honor.
