Francis Fukuyama, the American political scientist who once described the collapse of the Soviet Union as the “end of history,” suggested that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine might be called “the end of the end of history.” He meant that Vladimir Putin’s aggression signals a rollback of the ideals of a free Europe that emerged after 1991. Given that the U.S. and its allies have imposed significant economic sanctions against Russia for its attack of Ukraine, state-sponsored Russian cyberattacks are likely; they may be viewed as an effective form of retaliation.

Pilot lawsuit to end mask mandate is revealing, but unnecessary

group of 10 pilots at Jet Blue, American Airlines and Southwest Airlines are suing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) over the federal transportation face mask mandate. The Southwest flight attendant union is taking a more placid approach, simply asking that the face mask mandate be ended when practical. The CEOs of all the major airlines, as well as the leading cargo carriers have also expressed a call to end the mandate.
