Vision Statement

I am honored and thrilled to be nominated for the position of Vice President of Marketing, Communication, and Outreach at INFORMS, the world’s largest professional society for decision and data sciences. My experience at INFORMS includes serving on the Advocacy Governance Committee, working with the Outreach and Advocacy team on round-the-clock media coverage, engaging with federal agencies and on Capitol Hill, and publishing in leading INFORMS journals such as Management Science, Marketing Science, M&SOM, and Operations Research. With my passion and commitment to making a difference within and beyond the INFORMS community, if elected, I will focus on the following S.T.A.R.S. priorities:

  • Strengthen INFORMS’ presence: To establish INFORMS as a globally recognized thought leader in decision and data sciences, I will be a super-collaborator in developing and implementing our marketing, communication, and outreach strategies along with our dedicated and talented staff and Board of Directors. By reaching new audiences through collaborative marketing campaigns in partnership with news organizations, universities, think tanks, government and non-government agencies, and industry partners, we will work toward positioning INFORMS as a leader in analytics, operations research, and artificial intelligence with applications in a wide range of fields.
  • Tout achievements of INFORMS members: My commitment to expanding INFORMS’ efforts to promote our members’ accomplishments includes strategic partnerships with academic institutions and corporations. For example, when our members publish their research in our flagship journals or win major INFORMS awards, I will work to coordinate with their affiliated organizations to jointly issue press releases and host media events that showcase the achievements of both the member and their organization.

INFORMS has made it a top priority to share our members’ knowledge and disseminate their research through media interviews, op-eds, speaking engagements, and other thought leadership opportunities. More than 300 members have been involved in these efforts. I am committed to sustaining and expanding this work and supporting the continued recruitment and engagement of INFORMS members in our advocacy efforts.

  • Advance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: I am committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusivity in all of our endeavors, with the goal of ensuring that our marketing, communication, and outreach initiatives are representative of diverse perspectives. I would work closely with the INFORMS staff, Board of Directors, and subdivision leaders to engage a diverse group of members in our advocacy and outreach efforts.
  • Reimagine our professional brand: To captivate a broader audience and showcase the far-reaching impact of our community, it is critical to harness our collective knowledge, expertise, and creativity to engage diverse audiences and demonstrate how our work in operations research and analytics has the power to save lives, save money, and solve problems. By weaving compelling stories and narratives into our communications, we can forge an even stronger and more visible brand that resonates with the world.
  • Supercharge member value and experience: At the heart of our marketing, communication, and outreach efforts is the desire to create a more fulfilling experience for our members. If elected, I would position our efforts as an indispensable source of opportunities, connections, and resources that help our members achieve their goals and dreams.

I am running for this position because I believe in our value proposition. As a S.T.A.R.S-studded cast of decision and data scientists, we have the brains and star power to solve some of the world’s most pressing problems. Together, we can use our expertise to make a real difference in the world. Thank you for your support.
