Prof.Dr. Carl Adam Petri will be the honorary guest of the Petri nets 2003.
He will receive a royal award for his work on concurrency. The
award ceremony will be during the conference dinner on Thursday the 26th.
He will also give the keynote lecture on Friday 27th from 16.00-18.15. The
title
is "NET MODELLING - FIT FOR SCIENCE?". This lecture will present the
quintessence of 67 years of thinking and 43 years of professional work
on concurrency by Professor Carl Adam Petri, the founding father of this
research area.
Petri Nets 2003 will also feature invited talks of M. Ajmone
Marsan, E. Brinksma, J.M. Colom, C. Ellis, K. Jensen, and

The conference takes three days preceded by three tutorials and
two workshops and is held in parallel with the BPM 2003 conference
(http://www.tm.tue.nl/it/bpm2003). The conference will be followed
by ICALP (http://www.win.tue.nl/icalp2003/) taking place at the
same location.
TUTORIALS
There will be a three tutorials:
(1) A two-day INTRODUCTION TO PETRI NETS by W. Reisig, J. Desel, M. Silva
K. Jensen, S. Donatelli, J. Kleijn and G. Rozenberg
(2) An advanced tutorial on SOFTWARE ENGINEERING AND PETRI NETS
by M. Pezze and G. Engels
(3) An advanced tutorial on COORDINATION by P. Cianciarini

WORKSHOPS
There will be two workshops: a Workshop on Discrete Event Systems
Control (WDESC) by Ph. Darondeau and S. Kumagai, and a Workshop
on Issues in Security and Petri Nets (WISP) by R. Gorrieri, N. Busi
