The MMR 2002 is the third in a series of conferences on Mathematical Methods in Reliability. The first conference was organized in Bucharest, Romania, September 16-19 1997, with approximately 140 participants. The second conference, MMR 2000, was in Bordeaux, France, July 4-7, 2000 with approximately 300 participants.
The MMR conferences intend to serve as a forum for discussing fundamental issues on mathematical methods in reliability theory and its applications. The idea is to assemble researchers from university laboratories and research institutions of probability, statistics and applied mathematics working in the reliability field and related fields, e.g. survival analysis. The MMR conferences supplement more industrially oriented conferences like ESREL and RAMS.
