Scope:
The workshop will be held at the campus of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, June 1-4, 2005. The workshop will be hosted by the Advanced Optimization Lab at the Department of Computing and Software and it is co-sponsored by IBM, the Fields Institute and MITACS.
The workshop aims to bring together a diverse group of experts from data mining, machine learning and mathematical programming, working on both theoretical and applied aspects, to ignite new collaborations and explore new opportunities. The framework of this medium-scale event will provide these interdisciplinary communities with a rare opportunity to expose each other to the possibilities available in each field, and further identify solution methodologies for problems arising from these areas.
Distinguished researchers will give one-hour invited talks on topics of wide interest. Invited speakers include:
Christin P. Bennet, Department of Mathematical Sciences, RPI, NY Peter Hammer, RUTCOR, Rutgers University, NJ Pierre Hansen, HEC, Montreal Alex Rubinov, University of Ballarat, Australia Yong Shi, University of Nebraska at Omaha Martin Wainwright, EECS, Berkeley Steve Wright, Dept. of Computer Science, University of Wisconsin Stanley Young, National Institute of Statistical Sciences
