Museums take this educational role seriously, and many institutions understand the need to sustain and broaden their appeal. “They used to be these big ivory towers of knowledge and history and thought and art,” said Hilary Knight, director of Change& in London and former director of digital at Tate. “Museums themselves are changing their role to be centers for discussion and encounter and to be much more participatory.”
'Ghost ships' are vessels that disappear from public tracking systems, their location manipulated or their digital record misleading. An estimated 65% of outbound tankers crossing the Strait of Hormuz operate in dark mode, reducing visibility and increasing supply chain uncertainty. Misinformation in vessel tracking can cause manufacturing delays, compliance risks and financial losses. Layered verification processes, combining AIS data with other sources and escalation triggers for handling uncertain shipments, can help mitigate risk.

The Institute for Operations Research & Management Sciences (INFORMS) is hosting an Analytics Conference in Orlando in April 2016. The event is expected to bring in more than 1,000 business professionals and owners — many who specialize in analytics. Big names in business are expected to make an appearance, too. Ford's Chief Analytics Officer Paul Ballew and Uber's lead Director of Operations Research Samuel Elderesveld will both speak at the event, along with plenty of others who have helped the U.S. Army, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, BNY Mellon, NYPD and UPS. In addition to the speakers, there will be dozens of workshops, consultations and networking opportunities. In total, there will be more that 120 events for attendees to schedule.
