INFORMS Board of Director Takes Office with Editor of IIE Transactions as President

HANOVER, MD, January 2, 2010 - The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS®) today announced its 2010 Board of Directors, which took office at the beginning of the year.

Susan L. Albin is the 2010 President of INFORMS. She is Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Rutgers University. Her research field is high-dimensional multivariate process monitoring and control, data mining, profile monitoring, and multiresponse optimization.

She is Editor-in-Chief of IIE Transactions, the flagship journal in the field of industrial engineering.

Her work has been applied in semiconductor manufacturing, plastics recycling, food processing, and medical devices.

Dr. Albin received her doctorate from Columbia University and worked at Bell Laboratories. Her research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the Federal Aviation Administration, the U.S. Department of Defense, and industrial companies. She helped found graduate degree programs in Quality Engineering at Peninsula Technikon, Cape Town.

Dr. Albin previously served in numerous positions on the INFORMS board, including Secretary. She was an Associate Editor for the INFORMS journal Management Science. She is a Fellow of IIE, an institute of industrial engineers. She received the Rutgers School of Engineering Teaching Excellence Award in 2008.
