MIT professor Stephen Graves elected president-elect of INFORMS

Will lead largest international O.R. and analytics association in 2021

  

CATONSVILLE, MD, October 11, 2019 – INFORMS, the largest international association of operations research (O.R.) and analytics professionals and students, announced that MIT’s Stephen Graves has been elected president-elect and will serve as INFORMS president in 2021. 

Graves is the Abraham J. Siegel Professor of Management and a professor of operations management at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He has a joint appointment with the MIT Department of Mechanical Engineering. His research focuses on supply-chain optimization, manufacturing flexibility and tactical issues in online retailing.

Graves has been a member of INFORMS since joining as a student in 1974. He received the INFORMS Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society’s 2017 Manufacturing & Service Operations Management Best Paper Award. 

He got his AB in mathematics and social sciences and MBA from Dartmouth College. He has an MS and PhD from the University of Rochester.
