HANOVER, MD, February 28, 2011 – The Board of Directors of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS®) today announced that INFORMS has named Melissa Moore as the new Executive Director of the professional association for experts in analytics and related fields. She will take office on April 4.
“We are excited by the wealth of experience and enthusiasm that Melissa brings to INFORMS,” said INFORMS President Rina Schneur. “This is an exciting time for our field and our association. Operations research and analytics are reaching more and more people in business, government, and non-profits. As a result, the role of operations researchers is becoming increasingly important at every organizational level. We believe strongly that as INFORMS’ new executive director, Melissa Moore will help the association grow to meet the needs of experts in business analytics and operations research.”
Melissa Moore, in accepting the position, said, “I am delighted and honored to be joining INFORMS, and am looking forward to working with the outstanding leadership team, members, and staff as we further the association’s mission in the fields of analytics and operations research.”
Ms. Moore, who currently lives in St. Joseph, Michigan is a partner at the Delta Communications Group, a consulting business. Previously, she spent 12 years as Executive Vice President (CEO) and Foundation Officer at the St. Joseph-based American Society of Agriculture and Biological Engineers (ASABE), where she drove strategic leadership and global outreach, nearly tripling the Society’s new members while maintaining high retention rates. Prior to ASABE, she was the Executive Director of AACE International (the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) in Morganton, WV, where her improvements to the association’s publications led to increased revenues and her work with members led to a significant growth in membership. Her association work also includes a term with the American Association of Engineering Societies, based in the Greater Washington, DC area.
