But new research from the INFORMS journal Management Science on LinkedIn usage, where people have connections of differing intensities, shows that strong ties are more helpful in generating leads for jobs, interviews, and offers. Weak ties can offer suggestions, but they prove less fruitful, perhaps because they don’t know the individual as well.
