Goal Call for Submissions Abstract FormatThis program—originally launched by the INFORMS Public and Societal Operations Research (PSOR) Division—aims to connect with researchers in developing economies who may not have the opportunity to attend the INFORMS Annual Meeting in person. There are no restrictions on topics or research methods. However, the research question must address a real challenge observed in a developing economy and/or the research (e.g., experiments) must have been conducted within a developing economy. Additionally, the presenter must be affiliated with a university or research institution located in a developing country.[1]
We invite submissions for the third annual webinar on Contemporary Operations Management in Developing Economies. The goal of this program is to connect with researchers in developing economies who may not be able to attend the INFORMS Annual Meeting in person. There are no restrictions on topics or research methods. To be eligible, submissions must meet the following conditions:
Selected abstracts will be invited to submit a 10-minute recorded video presentation and participate in a 5-minute live Q&A session in English. The best presentations will receive an award from INFORMS. There is no fee to register, present, or attend this program. To summarize the key information:
We look forward to your participation and to fostering connections and collaborations across the global research community. For any question, please reach out to Adriana Leiras ([email protected]) or Mahyar Eftekhar ([email protected]).
There is no fee to register, present, or attend the program.
Abstracts must be submitted through the INFORMS platform.
Summary: Must be one paragraph and strictly limited to 150 words. Do not include keywords. This summary does not count toward the 1,000-word extended abstract.
Provide a brief discussion of the research motivation, background, and research questions. Citing references is not required for this extended abstract. Authors may discuss local realities, institutional constraints, and system limitations that motivate the study.
Explain the method without including mathematical equations. It is important to demonstrate that the study is rigorous. Authors are therefore encouraged to describe their methods concisely and clearly. For example, for an empirical study, describe the data source and the analytical approaches used. For modeling research, describe the general modeling approach and highlight any novel or particularly appealing features of the model.
Describe the key theoretical and/or managerial insights of the study. Explain the practical implications and applicability of the findings, including their potential impact and applicability for organizations, policymakers, or practitioners in the relevant developing-economy context.
