New Research Finds Altering Language of Job Descriptions May Not Help Organizations Address Diversity Issues

BALTIMORE, MD, April 12, 2023 – It looks like the “best practice” of removing gendered language from job listings may simply have been a “best guess” by managers seeking to increase diversity of applicant pools for their organizations. New research in the INFORMS journal Management Science finds that tweaking the language of job postings to make them more gender-neutral has negligible practical effects on men’s and women’s likelihood of applying for jobs.

Study Finds Only One Type of Consumer Dictates Price

BALTIMORE, MD, April 11, 2023 – It’s commonly assumed that the supply-and-demand economics of the consumer marketplace dictates price. If you are one of few retailers that sells a product consumers want, you can charge more. Or, if supplies of that product are more scarce, again, prices will likely be higher. On the flip side, if supplies are plentiful for a product that is in less demand, prices for that product are likely to be lower.

He is the founder and director of the Public Impact Analytics Science Lab (PIAS-Lab). His current teaching focuses on machine learning and big data analytics tools for solving societal problems. Saghafian speaks about ChatGPT and breaks down what is it and how it’s being used. This content is provided by INFORMS, the largest association for the decision and data sciences. New Audio Available for Media Use: How is Ukraine Managing One Year After the Russian Invasion?

BALTIMORE, MD, March 17, 2023 – New audio is available for media use featuring Anna Nagurney. She speaks about how Ukraine is managing one year after the Russian invasion. Nagurney herself is Ukrainian-American. Ukrainian is her first language. She is the Eugene M. Isenberg Chair in Integrative Studies in the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Nagurney is an Affiliated Faculty Member of the school’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.
