Experiments Find Bias in Way Analysts View Firms Led by Black Graduates of Prestigious Universities

Airline Passengers in Developing Countries Face 13 Times Risk of Crash as U.S., First World

Passengers who fly in Developing World countries face 13 times the risk of being killed in an air accident as passengers in the First World. The more economically advanced countries in the Developing World have better overall safety records than the others, but even their death risk per flight is seven times as high as that in First World countries.

The 2009-2010 INFORMS Society for Marketing Science/Marketing Science Institute (ISMS-MSI) Practice Prize was presented today to professors at the University of Passau and the University at Kiel for research that supported Bayer Healthcare AG in their marketing investment planning for the primary care business of the company’s pharmaceutical product portfolio in five European markets. The prize-winning budgeting model aims for more effective marketing spending.
