Anna Nagurney is the recipient of the 2025 INFORMS President’s Award for her exceptional contributions to society through pioneering research in supply chain and transportation networks, particularly in humanitarian logistics and disaster management. Her dedication to advancing the role of women in operations research and management science (OR/MS) further underscores her impact on the field, along with her extensive contributions to developing the next generation of OR/MS professionals.

Her research addresses critical issues such as perishable medical product supply chains, network disruption management, sustainability, financial networks, and emergency preparedness. Her ability to integrate theoretical frameworks with practical applications is reflected in her prolific output, which includes authoring and co-authoring more than 16 books, 50 book chapters, and 235 refereed papers. Her work not only advances research but also provides actionable solutions to real-world challenges.

She began working in OR/MS at a time when few other women were entering the field. A trailblazer in OR/MS, she received the WORMS Award for the Advancement of Women in OR/MS in 2007 and was named an INFORMS Fellow in 2013. Her reputation as a leader is complemented by her role as an ambassador for the OR/MS field, contributing to major media outlets and presenting keynote speeches globally.

She is also a dedicated educator, fostering student engagement within the INFORMS community. Since 2004, she has served as the faculty advisor for the UMass Student Chapter of INFORMS, which is consistently recognized as one of the organization’s most active chapters. Additionally, she has chaired 23 doctoral dissertations and currently coordinates the Doctoral Program in Operations Management at the UMass Isenberg School of Management. Her influence extends beyond national borders; in 2022, she was appointed co-chair of the Board of Directors at the Kyiv School of Economics, reinforcing her commitment to educational leadership across the globe.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions, deep commitment to the principles and values of INFORMS, and her unwavering support for future generations, Anna Nagurney truly deserves the INFORMS President’s Award.
