From California and Texas to Tennessee and Virginia, redistricting efforts have taken center stage. Fake Hermès Birkin bags and other counterfeit luxury goods are popular not only with people on a budget, but also with those with deeper pockets, a new study suggests.

Researchers from the National University of Singapore analyzed millions of counterfeit purchases by American consumers from more than 24,000 U.S. zip codes on a major cross-border, e-commerce platform. They found that both lower- and higher-income individuals are “significantly more likely” to buy fake luxury items than middle-income consumers, according to a press release by INFORMS on Monday.

Grocery retailers may not need new technology—or behavior change from shoppers—to meaningfully reduce food waste. New research in the INFORMS journal Management Science finds that small operational decisions already under a retailer’s control, including how perishable items are displayed and when (and how much) they’re discounted, can increase profits while reducing spoilage.

New Research Finds Data-Driven Staffing Model Delivers Major Cost Savings for Healthcare Systems

New research published in the INFORMS journal Operations Research shows that healthcare systems can substantially reduce overtime, idle time and overall staffing costs by adopting a multilocation, dynamic staff-planning model for anesthesiologists. The study is based on the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), which cut daily overtime and idle time across 11 hospitals, generating over $800,000 in annual cost savings.
